Overview
SOMB code 03.03P is paid for the second and subsequent patients seen at the same home-visit location. It is billed only in conjunction with a 03.03N for the first patient at the same visit.
Billing Requirements
- A 03.03N billed for the first patient at the same location
- Face-to-face assessment of each additional patient documented
Common Audit Traps
⚠️ Alberta Health auditors specifically look for these mistakes when reviewing 03.03P claims:
- Billing 03.03P without a corresponding 03.03N for the first patient at that location
- Billing multiple 03.03N claims for patients at the same address
Clinical Example
Home visit to a long-term care residence: first patient billed 03.03N; each additional patient seen at the same visit billed 03.03P.
Documentation Tips (Audit-Proof)
- Tie each 03.03P chart note to the 03.03N first-patient visit
- Document each patient's assessment separately
